A “Destination X” Geo-Genius (Official)

We’ve followed the BBC series – it was quite entertaining. Made more so with a fun way to play along with your own “map room”. Quite a few of the destinations were easy to identify. Getting to within 1,000m of the actual destination takes some skill – especially using the featureless map you’re given (it’s basically black that shows areas of water but with absence of roads other than their names). I think we were hooked after episode 5 (Salzberg) when we got our first Geo Genius badge when we were within 1,000m of the bus. We were lucky to get very accurate on 5 out of the next 6 episodes…

It’s not made clear … but you do have to get the location of the bus, not the city/place. This becomes evident in episode 5 (Venice) where our “X” (in St Mark’s Square) was off by a short distance. The actual X was the bus on a pontoon in the canal…

Anyway, a fun show with a wonderful winner who was portrayed by the programme edits as having lost before the final episode was aired. She demonstrated that not having any “golden tickets” (advantage) going into the final dat did not affect the outcome. A great and modest winner illustrating that all is not lost until the final bell tolls.
